I have been thinking about Pocket Editions of Minecraft lately. As of right now, Pocket Edition(MCPE)--the version of Minecraft that is played on tablets--is different from the Minecraft played on computers. There are software projects such as Dragonet project that is working towards letting MCPE players connect to an play on normal Minecraft servers like ours, but the current version of Dragonet is not working with version 1.9.x of Minecraft.
It occurs to me, though, that people might enjoy having a MCPE iorek server that people with tablets can play on. Unfortunately, there'd be no way to link the MCPE and the existing server. Instead there would be two different worlds.
So what do people think? Should we set up a MCPE server for people to be able to join?

Welcome to 1.9.2
I updated the server for 1.9.2. Some plugins might act oddly, so if you run into problems, let me know.

Automated builds were a success...mostly
The ice-nine minecraft server has existed, off-and-on, for several years. In that time, players have built various structures that caught my eye. To archive them, I've been copying them and moving them onto new servers.
This year, I tried out the NPC Builder to put the structures into the world. The quick explanation is that the Citizens and Builder plugins let you make NPCs on the server that can read in saved files (in schematic format), and they can build them from scratch or rebuild something that had been destroyed by griefing.
There were a few false starts, but we managed to get a bridge, a giant creeper statue, two treehouses, and a fountain built. Images:
RIP Ground Cow.

There was one casualty. A cow was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was encased in dirt.

RIP Ground Cow.
There's one more thing I would like to add to the server, but it will take some thought. It's an entire mine made by players years ago. I think it would be really great to be able to have the mine made by one or more NPCs. I just need to think about where it should go (so it doesn't ruin other things) and how to best set the NPCs up so players could be in the mine as its being excavated/built.

Easter Eggs for March 27
This Sunday, starting at noontime (Pacific time), five easter eggs will be unveiled in the safe zone. What are they? If you were on the server a few years ago, you might recognize a few of these things. If that doesn't sound interesting, what if I told you automated NPCs will build them for us as we watch?!
While everything is happening, people will be given the ability to fly.
So hop on. Enjoy the show.

Unauthorized admin access, new moderator
Someone gained access to administrator commands. They didn't do anything destructive that I have seen, but security has been tightened. As a result, when you log in next you might appear as a Ghost again. Just get a moderator or admin to promote you.
And speaking of moderators, we have a new one. When you see him, say hi to our reigning mining champ, thr3shold.

Welcome to 1.9, but beware
The server has been updated to 1.9, but there might be some oddities as some plugins might now work correctly.
Known problems:

- Teleporting with lapis is not working
On the upside, it really looks like Herobrine has been removed

Minecraft 1.9, server updates
Minecraft 1.9 is now out, which means we need to update the server. I'll be doing this in the next few days, so hang tight.
